POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, provides support to the credit union and its Accounting department. The position is directly responsible for the support of the financial accounting functions of the credit union while operating under policies and procedures that support the credit union’s requirements for quality and timely financial information.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Electronic Funds Transfers: Processing of member wires which occurs throughout the day.
  • Accounts Payable: Processing of accounts payable, including ACH payments, occasional manual checks; maintenance of paid invoice files; reconciliation of accounts payable related to general ledger accounts; and research for department and vendor inquiries.
  • Maintains accounting records by making copies; filing documents.
  • Maintain balancing of ELAN and Dolphin Debit ATM records.
  • Processing of ACH, Draft, iPay and Payroll.
  • Verify general ledger balances, suspense and file maintenance reports.
  • Determines value of depreciable assets by running depreciation figures.
  • Balance/update general ledger and subsidiary accounts daily; maintain and reconcile daily cash accounts; prepare various accounting reports as needed.
  • Provide informed, professional assistance to staff regarding accounting-related duties.
  • Coordinate accounting matters with other departments and branches.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.
  • Prepare all reports within the prescribed time frame and with zero errors.
  • Assist in preparation of the Financial Statement.
  • Process employee reimbursements.
  • Assist in maintaining depreciation records of the Credit Union by adding and labeling new purchases accurately by the last working day of each month.
  • Reconcile Corporate Account statement of account to the corresponding GL account daily. Make all necessary corrections.
  • Complete 1099-MISC. Mail to vendors by January 20th and to IRS by February 10th. Order forms by October of prior year.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and industry rules and regulations and policies and procedures set forth by Ferguson Federal Credit Union.
  • Perform other job-related duties as directed by management

GENERAL OPERATIONS:
Assist the Accounting Manager with administrative and operational duties actively work the incoming wires to ensure deposits are received in a timely manner. Actively work with staff to educate, provide support and guidance as needed. Consult and review account transactions with staff by educating them on how to locate outages, errors and conduct research.

TEAM COMMUNICATION/PRODUCTIVITY/SUPPORT:
Develop and nurture a philosophy focusing on honest, open communications, individual productivity, and strong member orientation. Contribute ideas to improve member service, reduce operating expenses, and meet credit union goals. Provide support to Management on operational tasks.

Job Specifications:

EDUCATION: Equivalent to a 4 year degree in Accounting with additional broad specialized training. Experience can be credited in lieu of education. Continuing education a plus.

EXPERIENCE: One to three years of accounting, accounts payable and/or related clerical experience required; preferably in a financial institution.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to use the ten key calculator, keyboard and basic computer operations. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, involved instructions; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide various units of measure; to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions; to perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units. Ability to read by sight, a variety of books and instructions. Ability to prepare memoranda and reports, using proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
Ability to speak, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Ability to hear, perceiving the nature of sounds with or without correction. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds, to sit for long periods of time and use all credit union equipment.

Pay: $14.00 – $20.00 per hour
