Applications Training Specialist

Position Summary

The Applications Training Specialist is expected to deliver robust training processes and lead system and application training projects. The role will be responsible for the design and implementation of a progressive enterprise-wide training program, focused on the adoption and effective utilization of business systems and applications.

Essential Functions

  • In conjunction with the development team, design, develop, and deliver software applications training programs, and individual classes
  • Present instructor-led training sessions
  • Formulate a strategy for gauging user adoption and re-designing training programs to improve adoption
  • Develop and deliver new courses for new and existing software applications, including all course materials, exercises, and skills evaluations
  • Develop training materials, videos tutorials, and documentation
  • Create and communicate training schedules in consultation with Project Manager
  • Establish and maintain a database to track training participants’ status and results
  • Create and administer training event feedback mechanisms
  • Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses
  • Work with internal software developers to keep apprised of changes and upcoming development of new functionality
  • Communicate software problems and issues to software development and support teams

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Very hands-on with excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to use judgment and make decisions in ambiguous and complex situations
  • Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills
  • Excellent telephone and oral communication skills
  • Some travel within the USA is required.

Education and Experience

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or education, and/or 4 years equivalent work experience
  • Experience with staff development and/or human resources management
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of enterprise and desktop applications including SAP (SAP Preferred but not required)
  • Proven experience with adult learning principles, methodologies, and course design techniques
  • Experience with best practices and latest techniques in training delivery and discovery of the 4Ps of Training: Purpose & Assessment, Planning & Preparation, Presentation & Facilitation, and Performance & Evaluation
  • Experience building video tutorials
  • Knowledge of trends in computer technology relating to software
  • Experience with building and maintaining course and participant databases

Physical Requirements

  • Able to sit for extended periods of time, and perform other movements commonly required for this type of position and required to complete the duties and responsibilities described.
  • Visual acuity, finger dexterity, color discernment
  • Must possess professional phone etiquette
  • Able to wear prescribed personal protective equipment and appropriate clothing
  • The majority of the time this position will work in an environment typical of an office environment
  • Frequently work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment, including noise, extreme temperatures, and humidity, odors, dust, etc. for brief periods
  • Effectively use a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and commonly used software to complete necessary functions assigned
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with clients, vendors, employees, and other individuals
  • Ability to function effectively with moderate to high levels of stress in a demanding and dynamic environment
  • The employee must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time and consistently produce organized thoughts and execute sound judgment
  • Travel by automobile, airplane and other modes of economy-class public transportation are required
  • Fluent use of the English language to communicate verbally and in writing effectively
  • Must be able to lift at least 25Ibs.

Working Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, high-noise environments, chemicals used in the process, and extreme temperatures. The facility is an industrial manufacturing plant. This position is designated safety sensitive.
