Job Summary

The Archival Assistant will digitize approximately 100 open-reel audio tapes in the WKDU radio station records (Collection UR 8.13). The work will be performed using equipment at the Drexel Audio Archives at 1 Drexel Plaza.

Essential Functions

Digitally reformat open-reel audio tapes into WAV files

Compile descriptive and technical metadata about the recordings in a spreadsheet

Perform quality control checks and upload the files to a University Archives OneDrive account, shared drive, or portable storage media

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Familiarity with audio digitization equipment and procedures

Familiarity with radio station recording and broadcast practices

Good time management and organizational skills

Good written and oral communication skills

Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with diverse musical genres

Physical Demands

Typically sitting at a desk/table

Lifting demands Less than up to 50 lbs

Additional Information

This is a temporary part-time, non-exempt hourly paid position that will be paid bi-weekly, and does not qualify for benefits.

This position is supported fully or partially by external funds; continuation of employment is contingent on receipt of those external funds.
