Industrial Water & Wastewater Business Development Leader

AVANTech, LLC is a rapidly growing technology company with extensive experience in the design, fabrication, and operation of water treatment equipment for government, utility, and industrial clients is seeking a creative and results-oriented full-time, salary, exempt Business Development Leader interested in joining our team. The Business Leader could be mid-career (5+ year experience) or highly experienced senior level (25+ years). The primary focus would be expanding the industrial (non-government & non-power utility) market for AVANTech.

  • AVANTech’s diverse product portfolio includes traditional water treatment systems as well as specialized systems for radioactive and various environmental contaminant of concern applications. The company also has extensive experience in the design, fabrication, and operation of industrial wastewater recycling, modular systems, and innovative product development. AVANTech’s unique engineering & fabrication capabilities allow for the team to solve difficult client problems with creative solutions. Market Rate Salary and bonus plan commensurate with experience

The management team is highly supportive of expanding into new markets and tackling long- term difficult problems. This is a great opportunity to take a leading role in a fast-growing specialty water treatment company.

Examples of previous projects include: first responders to Japan’s Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant melt-down, newly developed product for in-vessel solids capture in a wastewater stream, selective ion exchange system for PFAS removal in a drinking water application, food processing biological based wastewater treatment, and automotive manufacturer membrane-based wastewater recycle system.

AVANTech is headquartered in Columbia, SC but the position can be remotely located anywhere in the continental US. Market Rate Salary and bonus plan commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Identify, develop, and close new opportunities in the industrial water/wastewater treatment market.
  • Market new products and services developed by the company.
  • Develop proposals and support contract negotiations.
  • Assist in developing/improving company marketing materials.
  • Interface with internal organizations (engineering, project management, quality, senior management) to successfully solve client’s problems and close sales.
  • Attend and give presentation at key industry conferences.
  • Travel up to 50% of time to identify, develop, and close new opportunities, entertain, and maintain customer relations.


  • 5-25+ years’ experience, preferably in revenue producing roles.
  • Contacts, experience, and network of influence to begin immediately selling AVANTech into the industrial water & wastewater market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or similar field. Industrial water treatment experience may be substituted for engineering/science degree as applicable.
  • Skills required: sales and marketing, business development, proposal preparation, customer service, and project management.
  • Knowledge of industrial water & wastewater treatment. General familiarity with reverse osmosis, ion exchange, make-up water, and wastewater discharge compliance.
  • Ability to develop and implement new marketing and product strategies.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, impacting company sales and profitability.

All candidates must be able to pass drug test, pre-employment physical, and possible background investigation.

An elevated level of safe working practices and procedures awareness necessary.

Pay: $100,000.00 – $155,000.00 per year
