Full Job Description

The Buyer Planner performs operational functions supporting the buying team as well as analyzing supplier trends. Perform various clerical duties as needed. Responsible for confirming material has shipped, securing tracking numbers, as well as supporting functional areas.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purchases materials, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures, delivery, and terms; typically purchases $3-5 million per year; does not become heavily involved in the development of specifications or Suppliers, but the work is more complex than buying off-the-shelf items. Items are typically build-to-print items, often involving old, complex, or obsolete designs, sole or single-source technology, or items such as machined parts that include many sequential fabrication steps throughout the process.
  • Owns the Performance of assigned suppliers, particularly Delivery, Schedule performance, including the diagnosis and escalation of issues impacting production in these areas: Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Warehouse and Supermarket.
  • Reviews and issues purchase requisitions; follows up and expedites as necessary.
  • Works cross-functionally, especially with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Quality Engineering, Materials, Receiving, Inspection, Operations, Finance, Customer Service, and Production Planning.
  • Maintains procurement records such as Open Order Reports, On-Time Delivery, as well as reconciling any inventory discrepancies.
  • Supports Materials disciplines to identify gaps in processes and implementations; Conducts root cause analysis and identifies strategies to bridge the gaps. Supports implementation of identified processes and monitors to closure.
  • Supports identification of opportunities for process improvement.
  • Collaborates with several cross-functional departments as it relates to CN implementation and the rollout to the factory

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a four-year College or University; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in Windows Microsoft Office Software including Excel and Outlook.
