Job Description

CAD Designer/Technical Engineering Specialist


The CAD Designer’s primary responsibility will be to create models and drawings of parts to be manufactured, along with helping to support engineering with direct, hands-on interaction and participation in launching new products (i.e., testing, reverse engineering, and prototype builds). To be successful in this position, the candidate will need strong 3D modeling capabilities, knowledge of GD&T, and possess the ability to create detailed drawings for manufacturing.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to utilize software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, etc. to create detailed 2D or 3D designs for complex projects.
  • Ability to convert 2D drawings to 3D.
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude and understand torque and horsepower transfer.
  • Ability to create and/or modify BOMs.
  • Basic knowledge of mill/lathe capabilities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to effectively work with customer service to provide approval drawings to customer specifications.
  • Ability to work in test lab measuring and monitoring tests on new products.
  • Ability to work with inspection to verify new products.
  • Ability to reverse engineer products to create new drawings.
  • Collaborate with others to establish timelines and budgets, as well as solve problems.
  • Knowledge of industry, engineering, math, and materials.
  • Ability to analyze data and situation and come up with creative solutions.
  • Keep up to date on industry and engineering standards.

Required Education and Experience

  • An associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly, and production equipment.
  • Product development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above-mentioned tasks.
