Position Overview

The Cardiovascular Registry Coordinator is responsible for supporting excellence in clinical practice and for coordinating activities required to meet the department’s internal and external data-related needs. This individual provides support to department leaders regarding program development and management. In addition, the coordinator facilitates department process improvement by educating and training staff on the use of registry data. The Cardiovascular Registry Coordinator is responsible for data collection, abstraction, interpretation, and intervention of Singing River Health System patients entered into ACC/STS registries and Core Measures, where appropriate. The Coordinator also focuses on clinical quality to achieve improved outcomes in defined clinical areas. The coordinator must adhere to professional Standards of Nursing Practice as defined under the leadership and direction of the Chief Nursing Officer. The Coordinator must be able to work effectively under pressure, multitask and be self-directed. The Coordinator must have strong written and oral communication skills, analytical and critical thinking skills, conflict management and team-building skills, and strong organizational skills. The Coordinator must have the ability to perform numerous tasks simultaneously with minimal errors. The Cardiovascular Registry Coordinator will participate in interdepartmental Performance Improvement activities, and promote the SRHS mission and vision. He/She must be able to make reliable decisions based upon an in-depth knowledge of the specialized field within the department, exercising attention to detail for extended periods of time while assuring complete accuracy in security the activities ordered by the physician.

Education

Graduate from NLN school of nursing required. Current Mississippi State licensure.Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Certification

BCLS required.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience required, three of which in a Cardiovascular department; educator experience.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, bend, and lift. Must be able to sit for extended periods and possess good visual acuity. Must be able to tolerate extensive walking and travel between hospitals and departments.

Mental Demands

Knowledge of and competence in outcomes management with a complex patient population preferred. Knowledge of regulatory and private payer submission requirement preferred. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all members of multidisciplinary teams required. Ability to interpret clinical data and understand cardiovascular procedures and terminology required. Ability to perform multiple tasks and manage multiple projects required. Knowledge of ACC/STS registries preferred.

Special Demands

Advanced data management, statistical analysis, and presentation skills required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area – with the employee providing his/her own transportation. Must have a valid driver license.
