With our Agency’s mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located with the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, Beckman Center for Mental Health Services. This will serve Abbeville and McCormick Counties.
Peer support is provided under the support and supervision of a Mental Health Professional. It is structured therapeutic activities with an individual or group provided by a trained, self identified consumer of mental health services. A Peer Support Specialist guides patients towards the identification and achievement of specific goals defined by the patient and specified in the Plan of Care. Peer Support Services promote community socialization, recovery, self advocacy, and the development of natural supports.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State: A high school diploma and relevant human services or social services experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required experience.
Agency: Be a current or former patient of mental health services. Successful completion of Peer Support Specialist Certification class. Meet the necessary training requirements annually to maintain certification as Peer Support Specialist.

Expected salary: $29061 – 53769 per year
