Summary: Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.

Review and analysis of space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.

Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements process changes and improvements.

Mechanical Design – Ability to create production drawings form pre-existing models using model dimensions. Create new models based on pre-existing conditions.

Mechanical Analysis – Have basic understanding of engineering statics.

Mechanical Elements and Processes – Understand elements and processes such as fastener types.

Practical knowledge of basic trigonometry, basic algebra and quadratic equations

Ability to utilize AutoCAD/Mastercam Inventor, – basic modeling and assembly, technical drawing standards and drafting practices, sections, detail views and exploded assemblies

Have basic proficiency in Microsoft Project


Bachelors of Science degree (B. S.) in engineering with 3 – 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job function does not require exercising independent judgment

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long durations of time and be mobile throughout the workday. Employee must be able to effectively communicate (talk and hear), and use hands and fingers to handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to operate a variety of automated office machines which includes a computer, printer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, etc. Must be able to move or carry objects or materials.

Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use math and mathematical reasoning; observe and interpret situations; learn, apply and teach new information or skills; and interact with other employees, customers and vendors.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an indoor manufacturing environment. The employee will work in areas exposed to production activities to include but not limited to production machinery, assembly operations, overhead cranes usage, and forklift traffic. The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to workplace hazards.
