Summary:
This position is responsible for receiving and processing requests for ambulance service via telephone and radio utilizing Medical Priority Dispatch and maintaining the System Status Plan.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Consistently receives emergency calls and enters them into the CAD system within 60 seconds, 90% of the time

Consistently achieves alert times within 30 seconds of call received time, 90% of the time

Consistently receives emergency calls and enters them into the CAD system within 60 seconds, 90% of the time

Demonstrates a working knowledge of all communications equipment to ensure intelligent reporting of equipment failures

Demonstrates the ability to apply the System Status Plan to daily operations

Demonstrates ability to maintain quality improvement program goals

Demonstrates the ability to modify the System Status Plan as needed for efficient operations

Demonstrates the ability to communicate professionally with residents, public officials, governmental entities and political leaders when necessary

Ability to direct resources during major/mass casualty incidents

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

EMD Certification obtained within 1 year of EMD hire date

Obtain NAED EMD Certification within 1 year of EMD hire date

Good Computer skills and ability to multi-task

In the interest of public safety, the ability to speak in an unencumbered manner is a Bona Fide Occupational Qualification (BFOQ) for this position

Desired Qualifications:
One-year field experience

Physical Demands:
Must be able to withstand considerable sitting and work a variety of shift hours while performing the duties of the job. The employee frequently uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.
