Job Title: Faculty Development Director-Faculty Affairs

Job Summary: Leads in the development and management of strategic business partner relationships on behalf of SOM leadership in support of SOM faculty affairs goals and objectives. Provides consultation, advice, and guidance to SOM faculty and staff through the identification, analysis, prioritization, and resolution of complex problems and the identification of opportunities affecting operating performance in the business processes and systems related to the SOM faculty lifecycle. Using project management techniques, leads effort to devise and/or modify SOM faculty affairs business processes and systems to deliver results of increased customer service and increased efficiencies.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Management, Project Management or related field and eight (8) years of related experience. Experience cannot be substituted for education. Master’s degree and Project Management certification preferred.

Responsibilities * Leads the effort to devise and/or modify faculty affairs business processes and systems to deliver results of improved customer service and increased efficiencies. Meets with department stakeholders to understand their needs, formulate and develop plans to address those needs. Develop and administer surveys to broad range of customers to identify opportunities for improvements.

  • Provides consultation, advice, and guidance to UMMC faculty and staff through the identification, analysis, prioritization, and resolution of complex problems and the identification of opportunities affecting operating performance in business processes and systems related to the faculty lifecycle. Identifies and helps implement best practices for process improvements.
  • Leads the development and management of strategic business partner relationships on behalf of institutional leadership in support of faculty affairs goals and objectives.
  • Directs and manages programs/projects initiated by OFA. Plans, develops and implements programs that are strategically important to the continued success of UMMC faculty, as identified by OFA and institution, including promotion, tenure, retention and succession planning, promotion and tenure training, department reviews, faculty evaluations / talent management, department chair leadership assessments, faculty forward etc. Communicates with program stakeholders and meets with them to review program statuses, facilitate decision making and recommend best practice solutions.
  • Attends OFA meetings, provides program development updates, assists in developing strategies for OFA, collaborates and consults with other fa offices that are part of AAMC. Researches and reads fa related topics that are strategically important to SOM-OFA and are recommended best practices per AAMC-GFA.
  • Demonstrates awareness of institutional culture and serves as a change agent to support introduction of new policies, new business processes, new institutional initiatives and goals.
