THE POSITION

Do you have an interest in ensuring that elderly residents are safe and cared for while living in nursing homes? If so, you would enjoy this rewarding position as a Health Facility Quality Examiner. This position is a professional representative of the Department of Health, Division of Nursing Care Facilities, evaluating care and services to nursing home residents to determine eligibility of facilities for state licensure and certification and federal long term care programs.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs professional assignments to evaluate compliance with state and federal regulations that pertain to long term care health care providers/facilities. The work involves the evaluation of the quality of care provided to residents in long-term care facilities, the investigation of complaints relative to the quality of care, quality of life and services provided to residents. Reviews reports of incidents as assigned and communicates with providers electronically or verbally for follow-up. Writes reports of survey findings using Principles of Documentation. Reviews and approves/disapproves plan of correction for necessary components. Plans/conducts revisit/follow-up activities with providers as needed. Prepares statement of deficiencies for review by supervisor. Functions as an independent surveyor, as team member or team leader as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday, with 30-minute lunch. May require irregular work hours to meet departmental needs.

Statewide travel, overnight travel and flexible work hours may be required in order to accommodate state and federal mandates.

May be assigned to function independently , with a partner, as a member of a team, or as the designated team coordinator during on site surveys.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bethlehem.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

In compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, if you are selected for this position, you must show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination, or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination, unless you are exempt from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination due to an ADA or religious accommodation. QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in audiology, communication sciences and disorders (CSD), cognitive disabilities, gerontology, health administration, nutrition, dietetics, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychology, public health, recreational therapies, respiratory therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, nursing home administration, or vocational rehabilitation; and one year of related professional experience; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of related professional experience.

Necessary Special Requirements:
All positions require successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated Surveyor Minimum Qualifications training and Test (SMQT) provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services or an equivalent certifying body for the discipline, within one year of hire.

All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
