We have an immediate opening for a Lab Technician at our Scottsburg Plant. The Lab Technician provides quality checks on random samples of incoming raw materials and outgoing finished product, using laboratory-testing equipment. Must be a quick thinker and have the ability to think on your feet, problem solver. Work cross functionally with operators, supervisors, and engineering.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Obtains samples from incoming raw materials at receiving dock and, using laboratory instruments, evaluates for adherence to company specifications for quality and color. When test results are acceptable, advises receiving supervisor that load may be accepted.
  • Obtains random samples from outgoing finished product and checks with laboratory instruments to ensure that samples meet company quality standards and customer’s color code standards. Retain samples from each truckload.
  • Receives samples from line operators on startup of new line runs. Checks sample and advise if they meet company product specifications.
  • Receives samples from rework and checks reworked product for compliance with company standards.
  • Prepares necessary company forms and documentation in support of lab inspection function.
  • Keeps neat and orderly work area. Responsible to keep lab equipment and lab area clean (sweeping, moping, dusting, organization).
  • Communication; must be willing to use computer and communicate with all departments and customers of any issue that arise.
  • Follows all company safety and health procedures for protection of self and other plant personnel.

Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of company quality specifications and manuals.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to operate laboratory testing equipment.
  • Ability to operate and be proficient in inputting data accurately on computer as well as other computer functions

No experience necessary. We have an excellent training program!

Pay: $15.50 – $16.00 per hour
