Measurement Quality Assurance Specialist


This position supports the Energy Transfer’s Product Quality Assurance program through monitoring and evaluating the quality of refined products which are received into, transferred though and shipped out of the refined products distribution system in the Philadelphia area.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate test data to ensure products meet company and industry quality specifications
  • Obtain product line and tank samples, performing laboratory testing on samples, evaluating test results to verify product quality.
  • Execute Pipeline Change of Products (COPs) for products recieved from inbound pipelines manually or using an HMI.
  • Conduct investigations into any product quality events or abnormalities.
  • Communicate details of investigations, including recommendations for the disposition of off-spec product and ways to prevent a recurrence to the Quality Assurance management.
  • Possess the ability to establish priorities, multitask and reshuffle workload based upon ever changing pipeline schedules.
  • Perform duties independently with broad oversight from manager.
  • Conduct other QA related duties to support the operation as assigned.

Special Considerations:

  • This position is based in Sinking Springs, PA but at times, may also need to provide support in Aston, PA or other company locations in surrounding areas .
  • Job requires ability to work a flexible schedule including 12 hour rotating shifts, 365 days/year.
  • Must carry cell phone during off hours.


Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years industry related experience with the handling and/or testing of petroleum products or petrochemicals.
  • Fundamental working knowledge of laboratory testing equipment and product transportation operations, pipeline locations and product specifications.
  • Must have experience with MS Excel & Word and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work with third party, internal and external customers.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the key quality characteristics or refined products, crude oil, and NGLs
  • Knowledge of ASTM Test Methods and API Standards as well as pipeline logistics.
  • Solid mathematical and computer skills.
  • The ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be familiar with the safety issues associated with and be able to sample of tanks, pipelines, conducting laboratory analysis and general handling of refined products, crude oils and NGLs.
  • Must be available on call 24/7.
  • Must be able to climb tanks for product sampling.
  • Job also requires the ability to operate manual valves. Exposure to elements involved. In the event of an issue, may also need to provide emergency response.
