DRIVER JOB DESCRIPTION

DEPARTMENT: Guest Services
REPORTS TO: Guest Services Manager
STATUS: Non- exempt

JOB SUMMARY

The Primary duties of the Van Driver are to help with check-in/check-out processes, drive the van according to van runs and/or as needed for guests, and accommodate guests during their stay in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner. Making sure the shop is filled with snacks, and drinks. Walk the parking lot, pick up trash and make sure to empty all trash cans. Will assist in different areas of hotel when not on a shuttle run.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required and/or experienced in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for the applicable state.

Physical Requirements:

  • Long hours sometimes required.
  • Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/ or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.

Mental requirements:

  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of actions quickly and accurately.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

Essential:

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Vision Hotel Management, LLC standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working.
  • Comply at all times with New Vision Hotel Management, LLC standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Greet guests’ in a pleasant manner.
  • Load and unload luggage carts.
  • Load and unload van with luggage.
  • Escort Guests to rooms upon request.
  • Check/ store luggage for arrivals and departures using luggage tags.
  • Deliver messages to meeting rooms.
  • Maintain current listing of local and area attractions, special events, and activities.
  • Maintain list of local transportation guides, churches, sport arenas, etc.
  • Provide Information, maps and directions as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of motor entrance, front door and lobby area.
  • Deliver flowers, packages and messages to guest rooms.
  • Complete room changes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of van interior and exterior.
  • Drive van as per scheduled runs.
  • Restock pantry area as needed throughout shift.
  • Check trashcans/dispose of trash on each floor periodically.
  • Walk floors picking up food trays/trash/kitchen items by Guest rooms.
  • Keep lobby/ patios neat; straighten furniture/clean out ashtrays/dispose of trash in these areas.
  • Cleaning meeting spaces as needed.
  • Keeping Bell closet neat and organized.
  • Restock van cooler with water bottles.
  • Making sure van has accurate amount of gas at end of shift.

Marginal:

  • Answer phones to assist guest services agents.
  • Show guest rooms and suites as needed and emphasize company amenities.
  • Other duties as required.

We are looking for applicants for all three shifts: 7am-3pm, 3pm – 11pm, and 11pm-7am

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Pearl, MS 39208: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Van driver: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Personal Transportation Drivers: 1 year (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

  • 75% (Preferred)
