CLASSIFICATION DESCRIPTION
CLASSIFICATION TITLE: SWIM INSTRUCTOR
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens using the pool and its facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Instructs swimming lessons, coaches recreational swim team and/or instructs water exercise classes; teaches a variety of skills, such as floating, stroke technique and endurance.
Provides information to individuals regarding pool policies, procedures, programs, fees and other issues; responds to questions/complaints and initiates problem resolution.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess and maintain Water Safety Instructor certifications, CPR and First Aid certifications.
