Polygon Company, a global leader in manufacturing of fiber reinforced composite products, has immediate opportunity for a Quality Engineer and or Quality Technician at our Walkerton, Indiana location (90 miles east of Chicago). Polygon was founded in 1949 working with advanced composite materials during World War II. Polygon’s original patents for composite self-lubricating bearings in the mid 1960’s stand as the hallmark in journal bearing technology. Polygon’s innovative approach and ongoing research and development has resulted in multiple patents and the creation of highly engineered products supporting a wide range of industries including medical, construction, agriculture, oil and gas and electrical.

Polygon is seeking a Quality Engineer be an integral team member in our medical division. Polygon’s Medical Division provides products for electrosurgical devices, minimally invasive surgical devices, robotic surgical systems, and cancer ablation technology. Our Medical Division is experiencing unprecedented growth and needs talented individuals with medical device experience to support our growth objectives.

The successful candidate will have experience in the medical device market, direct experience with ISO13485 in a quality or engineering capacity. A BS or AS degree in engineering or other comparable science is required. We are looking for associates who enjoy working in a collaborative team environment and possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail. Candidates should be self-driven, self-motivated, and collaborative to seek out solutions to complex manufacturing challenges. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, the individuals must be qualified with the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:

  • College degree is preferred but not required (education can be supplemented by years of related quality engineer experience).
  • Working understanding of ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Possess a solid understanding of continuous process improvement, statistics, and the principles of quality.
  • Understand fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Understand and accept the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to understand and develop sequenced instructions.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to work with cross functional internal groups and teams.
  • Ability to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Desire to grow professionally and assume more responsibility

While performing the duties of this job, the employees is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and talk and hear for a minimum of eight (8) hours a day.

The employee must be able to lift and/or move 25 to 50 lbs. periodically during the day.

The employee is frequently required to reach and use hands and arms.
