Summary of Job Duties: The Research Assistant I-III will serve as a member of a close-knit research team conducting laboratory research trial studies as assigned. The Research Assistant will provide routine laboratory assistance following detailed methods and established procedures and will be accountable for maintaining adherence to the approved research protocol(s). He/she will prepare and facilitate research assessments on an on-going basis and perform data entry duties as needed. The Research Assistant will be responsible for observing, handling, and analyzing animal samples. The Research Assistant will work with other members of the research team with independent judgment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

75% Performing or assisting with experiments that provide direct data contribution to ongoing research efforts (includes RNA and DNA isolation and analysis, PCR and qRT-PCR, cell culture, animal experiments, protein isolation, Western blotting, bacterial culture).maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, cleaning and sterilization of glassware, general cleaning and restocking of the laboratory, making chemical reagents, preparation of various buffers and data.

15% Will also assist with preparing data and writing manuscripts as needed by the investigator.

10% Other duties as assigned.

Customer Service: Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed. Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary. Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines. Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Baccalaureate Degree, Major – Biology, Chemistry, or related field OR; Master’s Degree, Major – Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience: 3 years molecular biology, biochemistry, research lab experience OR; 1 year molecular biology, biochemistry, research lab experience.
