Small Machine Mechanic

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs scheduled and unscheduled repairs on sewing machines, digital strip cutters, knives and scissors.

· Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance service.

· Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

· Administers maintenance on sewing machines to include cleaning, lubrication, timing, adjustments, and troubleshooting.

· Responsible for the processing, assemble and disassembly of sewing machines for refurbishing.

· Designs and fabricates folders, hemmers, and various spare parts for sewing machine attachments.

· Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs.

· Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of packaging and production machines.

· Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

· Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules.

· Responsible for working according to company’s safety and quality standards.

· Maintains a safe and clean work area.

· Performs other related duties as required and/or as assigned.

· Adjust machine controls and regulate stitching speeds for every sewing project;

· Must possess in depth knowledge of sewing machinery and the garments industry;

  • Any addition tasks or assignments requested by your supervisor.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required;
  • Must be able to work on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Must have good knowledge of hand tools and machinery.
  • Must have the ability to interpret drawings and manufacturing instructions/specifications.

Physical Requirements:

  • Need to have sound hand-eye coordination and be able to cope with moderate physical effort
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance;
  • Finger, hand and arm dexterity crucial to perform maintenance on sewing machines.
  • Visual acuity necessary to operate machines and replace parts.
  • Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have legible handwriting to complete required documentation.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend and lift for extended periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 – $25.00 per hour

  • Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (Required)
  • Hand tools: 3 years (Preferred)
