Summary of Job Duties: The work-study assistants in the Department of World Languages are student employees with a Federal Work Study award who provide administrative and clerical support to department faculty and staff. Depending on their work-study allocation from Financial Aid, they may work up to 20 hours per week. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education/Experience

Degree-seeking UA Little Rock students enrolled in classes at the time of application;

Been awarded federal work-study for the academic year from the Office of Financial Aid.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

General clerical assistance (e.g., photocopying, scanning, greeting visitors, designing flyers or promotional materials);

Verifying classroom and workroom supplies and tidiness;

Maintaining the student lounge;

Providing basic research assistance to faculty and staff;

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

General computer skills;

Relevant experience in, or coursework on, layout/design fundamentals;

Familiarity with social media platforms;

Ability to follow instructions with attention to detail;

Ability to sit and stand for long periods;

Ability to stoop, bend, reach;

Ability to work in a diverse and inclusive environment.
