DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Workers’ Compensation Judges act as the hearing level judges in adjudicating contested claims under the Workers’ Compensation Act. You must possess knowledge about the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act and Occupational Disease Act, applicable rules and regulations, case law interpreting these Acts, and rules of evidence

Under the supervision of the District Judge Manager you will conduct in-person and virtual administrative hearings adjudicating all issues litigated between employees, employers and insurance carriers under the provisions of the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation Act and the Pennsylvania Occupational Disease Act, such as, present, past and future entitlement to indemnity and/or medical benefits, attorney fees and/or penalties for violation of the Act; manage continuing caseloads of hundreds of cases in a prompt and efficient manner while protecting the due process rights of all parties; resolve conflicts in evidence or expert opinion independently by determining credibility after a review of extensive hearing testimony, evidence of record, written arguments of attorneys, and applicable case law, then drafts findings of fact, conclusions of law and orders based thereon; and engage in legal research using a computerized legal research database, or annotated statutes, case reporters, treatises, and other secondary sources to determine the validity of the legal positions advanced by litigants

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment.

Work hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

A telework schedule is optional, should the selected candidate pass the required probationary period.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Malvern.

Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Five years of Workers’ Compensation practice before administrative agencies, or equivalent experience.

Necessary Special Requirement: Be an attorney in good standing before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Other Requirements:
You must pass the test to meet the Minimum Experience and Training Requirements.
